ROME, Ga. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team carded an opening round score of 302 and ranks sixth out of nine teams at the George H. Bedwell Memorial Tournament hosted by Berry College on Monday at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Rome, Ga.
The University of Cumberlands is in first place after shooting a team score of 290. Walters State is second with a 295, followed by Lindsey Wilson (296), Shorter (298), Berry (299), W&L (302), Young Harris (304), Talladega (309) and Hiwassee (372).
W&L is led by sophomore Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School), who recorded an even par score of 72. First-year Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) carded a 74, while junior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) and sophomore Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa./Sewickley Academy) both notched a 78. First-year Festus Turlington (Clinton, N.C. / Clinton) posted an 83, and junior Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y. / Amherst Central) recorded a 75 while playing as an individual. Individual standings were unavailable.
Action continues on Tuesday with the final round from the Stonebridge Golf Club.
