CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team carded a three-day score of 321-285-295—901 at the Marine Corps Intercollegiate held at the Paradise Point Golf Club over the weekend.
The Generals competed in the consolation group on the Scarlet Course on Sunday and finished seventh out of the 16 teams in that group (Top 16 teams played in the championship on the Gold Course). Hampden-Sydney was the top team in the consolation, finishing with a 307-284-290--881. Shorter's Patrik Sundlof was the top individual in the consolation, finishing with a 71-67-71--209.
The Generals were led by first-year Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton), who posted a score of 79-70-72—221 to tie for 10th. Sophomore Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School) recorded a 78-72-74—224 to tie for 19th, while junior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) notched an 84-70-77—231 to tie for 42nd.
Sophomore Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) and junior Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C. / Myers Park) rounded out the Generals in the field. Manzinger carded a 90-73-72—235 to finish in a tie for 50th and Cottrill produced an 80-81-77—238 to tie for 56th.
Washington and Lee returns to action on April 15-16 at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry University at the Stonebridge Golf Club.
