CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team was in action on Friday in the opening day of the Marine Corps Intercollegiate held at the Paradise Point Golf Club.
W&L played the more difficult Gold course (Par 72) on Friday, shooting a team score of 321. The Generals will play the easier Scarlet Course (Par 70) on Saturday and the top half of the field will finish the tournament on the Gold Course on Sunday. The rest of the field will play its final round on the Scarlet Course on Sunday.
The Blue & White was paced by sophomore Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn. / McCallie School), who carded an opening round score of 78. First-year Teddy Corcoran (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) notched a 79, while junior Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C. / Myers Park) posted an 80. Junior Mark Sowinski (Greensboro, N.C. / Bishop McGuinness) and sophomore Joey Manzinger (Baden, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) recorded scores of 84 and 90, respectively.
Action continues on Saturday with the second round from Paradise Point.
