WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's golf team shot an opening round score of 325 on Sunday to rank 28th out of 29 teams at the C&F Bank Invitational hosted by William & Mary at the Kingsmill Resort.
The Generals are the only non-Division I team in the field that is currently led by the University of Missouri, who carded a two-under par score of 282 on the first day of competition.
The Tigers also claim the top two individuals after the first round. Emilio Cuartero leads the way with a 66 (-5), while Jace Long posted a 67 (-4).
Washington and Lee is led by first-year Patrick Clossin (Ooltewah, Tenn./McCallie School), who shot an opening round score of 77 (+6) to tie for 94th overall out of 150 competitors. Senior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce Ark./Episcopal) and sophomore Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) both carded an 82, while sophomore Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) posted an 84. First-year Andrew Winter (Darien, Conn./Darien) saw his first tournament action of the year and carded a 92.
Action continues on Monday morning with the second of three rounds from the Kingsmill Resort River Course.
