W&L Men's Golf Finishes Second at Tom Kinder Invitational
HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee golf team fired a second round 299 on Monday to place second out of 15 teams with a 294-299—593 at the Bridgewater Tom Kinder Invitational held at the Lakeview golf Club in Harrisonburg, Va.
Host Bridgewater College won the event by 10 strokes over the Generals, shooting a 292-291—583 during the two-day invitational. Following the Eagles were W&L, Hampden-Sydney (304-290—594), Ferrum (301-305—606) and Averett (304-303—607) in the top five.
Sophomore Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) paced the Generals, finishing in fourth place with a two-day total of 70-73—143. Senior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) finished in a three-way tie for fifth place with a score of 73-73—146, while Mark Sowinski carded a 72-77—149 to end the invite in a five-way tie for 14th place.
Sophomore Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) concluded play in a seven-way tie for 36th place (79-76—155), while Stu Lotz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) tied for 67th with an 87-81—168.
W&L returns to action on Oct. 1-2, competing at the Randolph-Macon Ted Keller Invite at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club in Glen Allen, Va.
