Gavrich and Anthony Named to All-ODAC Golf Teams

CAPE CHARLES, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2011 all-conference golf team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee had two golfers honored.

Senior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) was named to the first team, while junior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) was selected to the honorable mention squad.

Gavrich averaged a career-best 75.0 strokes over 22 rounds played in 2010-11.  A second team selection a season ago, he produced a 10th-place finish at the 2011 ODAC Championship with a score of 80-77-74—231. 

During the course of the year, Gavrich recorded victories in the Virginia Intercollegiate in October and the Pine Needles Intercollegiate in March.  He completed his career with a 76.9 scoring average over 71 rounds played.

Anthony also received his first postseason accolades after producing the best scoring average of his career thus far.  He played 22 rounds and averaged 77.6 strokes per round.

Anthony finished in a tie for 23rd at the ODAC Championship (84-75-81—240) and he will enter his senior campaign with a 78.2 scoring average over 51 career rounds.

Guilford's Noah Ratner was selected as the ODAC Golfer of the Year, while Quaker Head Coach Corey Maggard was chosen as the Jack Jensen Coach of the Year.  Guilford's Alex Wise was picked as the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while Bridgewater's Mike Redwood was selected as the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  Redwood also received the Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year Award.
