CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – The Washington and Lee golf team posted a second round score of 286 on the Scarlet Course on Saturday for a two-day score of 307-286—593 at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate held at the Paradise Point Golf Course.
The Generals will now wait until all the scores come in to determine if they will join the final 16 teams to play for the championship on the Gold Course (Par 72) on Sunday. If not, they will participate among the 16 teams in the consolation round held on the Scarlet Course (Par 70).
Individually on Saturday, W&L was paced by senior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster), who posted a three-under score of 67 for a two-day score of 67-80—147. Junior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) logged a 71 for a 75-71—146 and first-year Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) carded a 73 for a two-day total of 74-73—147. Senior Tom Bowden (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) notched a 75 for a 78-75—153 and senior Rand Potter rounded out the Generals' contingent on Saturday with a 78 for a two-day score of 87-78—165.
Action continues on Sunday with the championship and consolation tournaments from Paradise Point.
