W&L Golf is Seventh After Day One of the Pine Needles Invite

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee golf team shot an opening round 324 on Monday to rank seventh out of 10 teams at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate held at the Pine Needles Resort.

The Generals are led by senior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster), who carded a 76 and first-year Jack Cottrill, who posted a 79.  Sophomore Wilson Anthony (Fordyce Ark./Episcopal) fired an 82 and first-year Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) notched an 87, while sophomore Will Hatfield (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) rounded out the Generals in the competition by shooting an 89.

Action continues on Tuesday with the final round from the Pine Needles Resort.
