W&L Golf Resides in Fourth at the Wynlakes Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Washington and Lee golf team opened its spring season on Monday at the Wynlakes Wynter Nationals hosted by Huntingdon College at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala.

Washington and Lee opened the two-day tournament with a 319 to rank fourth out of the 10 teams in the field.  Huntingdon leads with a 310 and is followed by Methodist (315), Oglethorpe (318), W&L (319) and Barry (321).

Individually for the Generals, senior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) led the way with a 78, while junior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce Ark./Episcopal) carded a 79.  First-years Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) and Jake Struebing (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst Central) both produced an 81 and sophomore Will Hatfield (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) rounded out the W&L competitors with an 83.

Action continues on Tuesday with the final round from the Wynlakes Country Club.
