W&L Golf is Fifth After First Round at Hampden-Sydney
FARMVILLE, Va. – The Washington and Lee golf team shot an opening round score of 317 and resides in fifth place out of 12 teams at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational held at the Manor Golf Club in Farmville, Va., on Monday.
Bridgewater leads the event after the opening round, shooting a team score of 298. Longwood's Dylan Jensen leads all individuals with a one-under par score of 71.
For Washington and Lee, senior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) and junior Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) led the way with scores of 77 to both tie for 13th place. First-year Jack Cottrill (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) is tied for 23rd after carding a 79 and senior Tom Bowden (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) is tied for 39th with an 84. First-year John Torell (Bronxville, N.Y./Brunswick School) wrapped up the Generals in the field, shooting an 87 to tie for 50th.
Action continues on Tuesday with the second and final round of the H-SC Invitational.
