W&L Golf Finishes Play at Marine Corps Intercollegiate
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee golf team finished up play in the Marine Corps Intercollegiate on Sunday with a 292 on the easier Scarlet Course at the Paradise Point Golf Course in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
The Generals finished in the bottom 16 teams after the first two rounds and played the consolation on the Scarlet Course on Sunday. For the tournament, W&L finished 21 out of the 32 teams with a three-day score of 303-287-292--882.
Sophomore Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) led the Generals with a three-day score of 75-72-71--218. Senior Joe Gibson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) notched a 79-70-71--220 and junior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) tallied a score of 75-71-76--222. Seniors Robert Womble (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) and Matt Langan (Prospect, Ky./Trinity) rounded out the W&L players in the field with scores of 78-74-74--226 and 75-76-76--227, respectively.
Washington and Lee returns to action on April 5 and it hosts the Buck Leslie Invitational at the Lexington Golf & Country Club.
