W&L Golf Finishes Second Round at Jekyll Island Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- The Washington and Lee golf team shot a 315 on Saturday in the second round of the three-day Jekyll Island Collegiate held at the Oleander Course in Jekyll Island, Ga.

The Generals hold a two-day score of 300-315--615 and are 17th out of the 27 teams competing in the tournament.

W&L is currently led by junior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster), who shot a 74 on Saturday for a score of 76-74--150 to tie for 30th overall out of 134 individuals.  Senior Joe Gibson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) has carded a 72-84--156 to tie for 69th, while senior Robert Womble (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) has posted a 77-80--157 to tie for 72nd.  Senior Matt Langan (Prospect, Ky./Trinity) and sophomore Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) wrapped up the W&L individuals through the first two rounds with a 75-83--158 and 81-78--159, respectively.  Langan is tied for 78th and Anthony is tied for 88th overall.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Sunday with the third and final round from the Oleander Course.
