W&L Golf In Action at Guilford Tom O'Briant Memorial

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Washington and Lee golf team compiled an opening round score of 318 on Monday afternoon and resides in seventh place out of 17 teams at the Guilford Tom O’Briant Invitational held at the Cardinal Golf & Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

Methodist leads the event with a day one score of 296 and is followed by Guilford in second place with a 301.  Emory (303), Christopher Newport (312), Cape Fear Community College (315), Greensboro (315), W&L (318), Bridgewater (321), LaGrange (322) and Berry (326) rounded out the Top 10.

Individually for Washington and Lee, senior Robert Womble (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) leads the way with an opening round 76, while seniors Matt Langan (Prospect, Ky./Trinity) and Joe Gibson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) both carded a 79.  Junior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) notched an 84, while sophomore Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) rounded out the Generals’ individuals with a 90.

The Generals will continue on Tuesday with the final round of action from the Cardinal Country Club.
