W&L Golf Places Second at Elizabethtown Invite
HERSHEY, Pa. – The Washington and Lee golf team shot a
two-day score of 301-312—613 to finish second out of seven
teams at the Elizabethtown Invitational held at the Hershey Links
on Saturday and Sunday.
Methodist University won the tournament by carding a score of
295-289—584, while MU’s Josh Schrader was the medalist
with a three-over par score of 71-75—146.
Senior Robert Womble (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) led W&L with a
third-place tie, carding a score of 73-75—148 (+5). Sophomore
Wilson Anthony (Fordyce, Ark./Episcopal) tied for eighth overall
(72-81—153) and senior Matt Langan (Prospect, Ky./Trinity)
finished 10th with a 78-76—154.
Junior Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) tied for 14th with a
78-80—158 and senior Brad Watts (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley
Academy) rounded out the Generals with a 23rd-place finish
(80-84—164).
The Generals return to action on September 28-29 as they
participate in the Greensboro Invitational held at the Meadowlands
Golf Club in Winston-Salem, N.C.
