SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2012 men's basketball postseason awards at its annual awards banquet on Thursday evening and Washington and Lee junior J.D. Ey (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) was named second team all-conference.
The 6-6 forward, who was Honorable Mention All-ODAC as a sophomore, earned second team laurels after putting together one of the most versatile seasons in recent memory. He leads the ODAC in rebounding (9.3 rpg), blocked shots (2.3 bpg) and double-doubles (9).
He is also ranked among the league leaders, and tops on the team, in scoring (12.8 ppg), assists (3.2 apg) and steals (1.7 spg), while shooting 47.9 percent (134-280) from the field and 68.8 percent (55-80) from the line.
This season, he has started all 26 games and tied a career-high in points (26), while setting new career standards in rebounds (21), assists (7, three times) and tying the school single-game record for blocks (7), a category in which he ranks third all-time at W&L with 111.
The Generals (13-13), seeded ninth in the ODAC Tournament, will take on top-seeded, and seventh-ranked, Virginia Wesleyan (22-3) at 1:00 pm on Friday in the ODAC quarterfinals at the Salem Civic Center.
