FOREST, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior J.D. Ey (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) has been named the ODAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5.
Ey, a forward, averaged a double-double with 17.3 points and 12.3 rebounds per game as W&L opened the season 2-1. He also contributed nine assists, seven blocks and six steals in the season's first three games en route to his first-career weekly award.
In the Generals' season-opening 69-67 win over Dickinson on Tuesday, Ey tied a career-high with 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while grabbing 10 boards, blocking three shots and registering four steals.
He followed that with a 16-point, 21-rebound, seven-assist performance as W&L downed seven-time NECC Champion Elms College, 72-68, on Friday. For Ey, the 21 rebounds were a career-high and the first time since the 2000 season that a W&L player had grabbed as many as 20 rebounds in a single game.
Ey finished the week scoring 10 points, grabbing six rebounds and blocking two shots as W&L fell, 100-64, to fourth-ranked Amherst on Saturday.
W&L returns to the court on Tuesday as it travels to Shenandoah for a 7:00 pm contest.
