GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore guard Josh Pittman scored a game-high 27 points to lead Guilford to a 68-57 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's basketball action on Wednesday evening at Ragan-Brown Field House.
The Generals (13-9, 5-8) shot 66.7 percent (14-21) from the floor in the first half and took a 31-30 lead at the break following a three-point play by first-year forward Drew Kimberly (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) with 27 seconds left.
Guilford (15-7, 9-4) wrestled the lead away (36-35) when senior guard T.C. Anderson split a pair of free throws with 15:47 remaining in the game and the Generals went cold from the floor, hitting just three of their next 10 shots as the Quakers used a 12-4 run to produce a 56-44 lead with 4:21 to play.
W&L used a jumper by Kimberly and a three-pointer by sophomore guard Jeremy Adkins (Huntington, W.Va./Spring Valley) to cut it to a seven-point game (56-49) with 3:44 remaining, but the Generals could get no closer as they dropped their sixth-straight game against Guilford in Greensboro.
