GILBERT, Ariz. — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association released its 2017 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-America teams on Wednesday, and Washington and Lee junior forward Haley Tucker (Manakin-Sabot, Va./St. Catherine's School) earned a spot on the third team.
Tucker was third in the ODAC this year in goals (20) and points (45). The 20 goals set a new W&L single-season record. The previous mark of 19 had stood since 2003. Tucker's 45 points also tied the school's single-season record. Maggie Waxter '17 also had 45 points in 2016.
Tucker led the Blue and White this campaign with five assists. She also had a team-high three hat tricks to go with four game-winning goals. On the W&L career lists, Tucker moved to fourth in career goals (38) and fourth in career points (89). Tucker is just the third player in the history of the program to earn NFHCA All-America honors. Waxter made the third team in 2017 and Kendall Korte '08 was selected to the third team in 2007.
Earlier this season, Tucker became the third General in program history to be named the ODAC Player of the Year. She also made the All-ODAC First Team and was First Team All-Region.
The Generals finished the 2017 campaign 15-5 overall and claimed the second ODAC title in program history. W&L advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history, before falling to the eventual National Runner-Up, Messiah, 3-2. The 15 wins by the Blue and White also tied the program record for wins in a season.
