LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2012 College Division All-State Field Hockey teams and junior defender Riley Hampsch (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) garnered second team honors.
Hampsch played in 16 games this season, registering two points on one goal en route to earning her first all-state accolade. She also collected two defensive saves and led a defense that recorded a 2.42 goals-against average. Hampsch is a three-time All-ODAC honoree and was named to the second team earlier this season.
Lisa Charney from Mary Washington was named the VaSID Player of the year, while Shenandoah's Alexandra Darrow was selected as the Rookie of the Year. UMW Head Coach Lindsey Elliot earned the Coach of the Year award.
The Generals finished the 2012 campaign with a 6-12 overall record after falling to Shenandoah, 1-0, in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinal round.
