VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Washington and Lee field hockey team fell, 2-1 in strokes (3-1), to Virginia Wesleyan at the National Training Center on Friday evening.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, junior Chelsea Stevenson (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) pulled W&L (4-6, 1-3 ODAC) even at 1-1 with an unassisted tally at the 57:18 mark. The goal was her third of the season.
After a pair of scoreless overtime periods, the two teams headed to strokes, where the Marlins (5-5, 3-1) knocked off the Generals 3-1. Sophomore Lauren Boone (Louisville, Ky./Collegiate) made W&L's only stroke.
Complete statistics were not immediately available.
The Generals return to action on Saturday when they take on Liberty at 2:00 pm at the W&L Turf Field.
