CHANDLER, Ariz. -- The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad and Washington and Lee was well represented with 12 players earning recognition.
Joining the four-time recipients on the squad were senior Jennie Norcini (Wayne, Pa./Episcopal), juniors Christina Benedetti (Derwood, Md./Holy Cross), Lizz Dye (Houston, Texas/Episcopal), Emily Kunkel (North Wales, Pa./Germantown Academy) and Annie Stevenson (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day), sophomores Ashley Barnes (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary’s) and Katharine Price (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle), and first-years Riley Hampsch (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) and Victoria Van Natten (Towson, Md./Towson).
This marks the seventh-consecutive year that the Generals have had at least 10 players recognized. To be named to the squad, a player must maintain at least a 3.30 GPA for the fall term.
W&L wrapped up its 2010 campaign with an overall record of 9-8 and an ODAC ledger of 5-2. The Generals fell in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament, 5-3, to Randolph-Macon.
