W&L's Donnelly Receives NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced that Washington and Lee senior women’s field hockey and lacrosse player Kate Donnelly (Houston, Texas/St. John’s) is one of 29 Division I, II and III female athletes selected to receive an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for participation in a spring sport.

Mathews and Kurkis Highlight Major Award Winners at W&L
Washington and Lee University held its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 17 at Lee Chapel. Headlining the award winners were senior field hockey/lacrosse player Emmy Mathews (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) and senior football player Greg Kurkis (Roswell, Ga./Westminster), who were selected as the “Pres” Brown Outstanding Senior Female and Male Athletes of the Year as voted on by members of the department.

Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 173 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

2010 W&L Field Hockey Season Preview
The Washington and Lee field hockey team has made eight-straight appearances in the semifinal round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament. Aside from a league championship in 2005, W&L’s only title, the Generals have often found themselves behind perennial national powers Lynchburg and Eastern Mennonite. However, a glance at the 2010 ODAC Preseason Poll suggests that W&L’s time may be coming.
