    The 2016-17 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State team was announced on Thursday and six Washington and Lee student-athletes were honored among the 217 student-athletes from 37 colleges and universities across the state.

    The Washington and Lee Department of Athletics held its annual Athletics Awards Ceremony at Lee Chapel on Tuesday evening.  The event, made possible by the generosity of the Brookby Family, honors student-athletes and administrators who have made the 2016-17 school year a tremendous success.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 233 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

    On Saturday, February 4, the Washington and Lee University student organization 24 held a “Be The Match” bone marrow registration drive in the Warner Center and had over 87 people register during the event.
  • Numerous W&L Students Earn Fall Scholar-Athlete Awards

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 242 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed fall term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.50. The prior record for scholar-athletes in the fall or winter term was 224 set during the fall of 2014.

    Washington and Lee senior cornerback Will Dyson (Indian Springs, Ala. / Briarwood Christian) was named to the D3football.com All-America team, which was announced prior to the Stagg Bowl on Friday evening.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2016 all-conference football team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee had 11 players honored, while junior linebacker Max Garrett (Fairfield, Conn. / Choate Rosemary Hall) was also honored as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

    Senior quarterback Charlie Nelson recorded 245 yard of total offense and registered four touchdowns to lead the W&L football team to a 59-42 win over Shenandoah on Saturday and earn Generalssports.com Athlete of the Week honors.

    Washington and Lee amassed 631 yards of total offense, converted on 11-of-14 third downs and controlled the ball for 37:02 of the game’s 60 minutes en route to posting a 59-42 win over Shenandoah on Saturday at Wilson Field.

    Washington and Lee and Bridgewater will be meeting for the 47th time, with the Generals holding a 27-19 advantage in the all-time series that began during the 1964 season. W&L has won four of the last six between the two teams, but has won just one of the last eight contests played at Jopson Field. The last W&L win at Bridgewater was a 35-34 victory back in 2010.

    W&L and Randolph-Macon will be meeting for the 65th time, with the Generals holding a 31-30-3 advantage in the all-time series that began during the 1903 season. W&L has won five of the last six games, including a 21-17 win last season in Ashland. The Generals have also won eight straight against Macon in Lexington, with the last loss coming during the 1998 season.

    Washington and Lee senior running back Marshall Hollerith (Richmond, Va. / St. Christopher's) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Football Player of the Week for the week ending October 16.

    W&L and Hampden-Sydney will be meeting for the 75th time, with the Tigers holding a 38-34-2 advantage in the all-time series that began during the 1899 season. H-SC has won six of the last nine meetings, but W&L claimed a 35-28 win last season at H-SC. The series has been high-scoring of late, with the two teams combining to score at least 57 points in each of the last nine meetings. The lowest score for a winning team during that span was 35 points, which has happened twice. The Generals are 20-18-2 all-time against the Tigers at Wilson Field.

However, the Quakers won the last game played at the Armfield Athletic Center by a score of 52-28.
