Heinsohn Named ODAC Offensive Football Player of the Week
FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee senior running back Luke Heinsohn (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Football Player of the Week for the week ending November 4.
Heinsohn helped lead Washington and Lee to a 45-42 four-overtime win over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday by rushing for 192 yards and four touchdowns. He also booted four extra points, ran in a two-point conversion and kicked a game-winning 37-yard field goal. All told, he posted a school-record 33 points in the game, a total which also ranks second in conference history.
Heinsohn now has 176 points on the season, breaking both the school and conference records for points in a season. He also leads all NCAA Divisions in scoring with an average of 19.56 points per game, while his 125.9 rushing yards per game rank 16th in Division III this season.
For the year, Heinsohn has rushed 166 times for 1,133 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is also 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and 42-of-45 on PATs. His 3,397 rushing yards and 332 points are both W&L career records.
The win clinched the Generals' second ODAC title in the last three years. W&L is 7-2 overall (5-1 ODAC) and concludes the regular season on Saturday as it hosts Shenandoah at 1:00 pm.
