    Lawson and Westfal Highlight Major Award Winners at W&L Washington and Lee University held its annual Athletic Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 15 at Lee Chapel. Headlining the award winners were senior soccer player Kat Lawson (White Post, Va./Clarke County) and senior football player Charlie Westfal (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), who were selected as the “Pres” Brown Outstanding Senior Female and Male Athletes of the Year as voted on by members of the department.

The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

    W&L Announces its 25th Athletic Hall of Fame Class Washington and Lee University will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Athletic Hall of Fame in ceremonies on campus the weekend of September 14-15. W&L has announced that five new members will join the 112 former athletes, coaches, administrators and support staff, who have already been honored as the University’s best.

    Frank Miriello Retires as Head Football Coach at W&L Washington and Lee’s Frank Miriello has announced his retirement as the school’s head football coach effective immediately. Miriello will remain as an instructor of physical education through the remainder of the current term.

    W&L's Westfal Wins Lanier Award Washington and Lee senior quarterback Charlie Westfal (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) has been named the 2011 recipient of the Willie Lanier Award, presented annually to the best college football player in NCAA Division II, III and NAIA in the state of Virginia. Westfal was presented the award, which is sponsored by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and the Richmond Times Dispatch, at an awards ceremony held at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa Short Pump on Wednesday evening.
