FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced its Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 2 and Washington and Lee had two players honored.
Senior middle blocker Lindsey Dee (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay School) was named the Volleyball Player of the Week, while junior running back Luke Heinsohn (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant) was named the Football Offensive Player of the Week.
Dee helped the Generals to a 3-0 week, averaging 2.9 kills per set and 1.9 blocks per set across the three wins. She played a total of eight sets and recorded 23 kills, 15 blocks (8 solo/7 asst), four digs and one service ace while hitting .500.
In a 3-0 win over Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday, Dee tallied five kills, one dig and one block. She then notched four kills, eight blocks and three digs in a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, and posted 14 kills, six blocks and one service ace in a 3-0 win over Mary Washington also on Saturday.
For the season, Dee has notched 127 kills, 56 blocks and 27 digs, while hitting .306 for the Generals, who are 17-2 overall and 6-0 in ODAC play. She currently ranks fifth all-time at W&L with 299 career blocks.
Heinsohn keyed the Generals' football team to a 63-0 win over Guilford on Saturday by rushing for a season-high 167 yards and a career-high four touchdowns on just 12 carries. He averaged 13.9 yards per rush in the contest, scoring on runs of two yards, four yards, 23 yards and 63 yards.
For the year, Heinsohn ranks second on the team in rushing with 423 yards and eight touchdowns on just 66 carries. With the win, the Generals improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC.
