FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee sophomore defensive back Jake Pelton (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17.
Pelton garnered the award for the second time this season, having been named the defensive player of the week on Oct. 3 following a 55-29 win over Guilford.
In Saturday's 42-28 victory over 20th-ranked and previously unbeaten Randolph-Macon, Pelton notched a team-best 11 tackles, including 10 solo stops. He also recorded an interception in the end zone with just 33 seconds remaining in the first half to preserve a 28-14 lead at the break.
For the season, Pelton is second on the team in tackles with 46 total stops. His 28 solo tackles are the best on the team as are his three interceptions. He also has three pass breakups, one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks.
Washington and Lee is currently 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the ODAC heading into this weekend's matchup at Bridgewater College. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.
