W&L's Murray Earns ODAC Weekly Honor

FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee sophomore running back Brett Murray (Lookout Mountain, Tenn./Baylor School) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 10.

Murray was W&L's second-straight offensive award winner after sophomore running back Luke Heinsohn (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) received the award last week.

Murray helped lead the Generals to a 45-24 win over Emory & Henry on Saturday by totaling 225 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns.  He rushed 10 times for a career-high 121 yards and two touchdowns, including a 52-yard touchdown run.  He also caught two passes for 22 yards and a score, and returned three kickoffs for 82 yards.  As a team, Washington and Lee amassed 491 yards, including 425 rushing yards, the third game this season of 400+ yards rushing.

For the season, Murray ranks third in the ODAC in scoring (9.6 ppg) and is fifth in all-purpose yards (139.6 ypg).  His eight touchdowns lead the team, as do his nine receptions for 115 yards.  He also ranks third on the team in rushing with 278 yards on just 37 carries (7.5 ypc).

Washington and Lee (3-2, 2-0 ODAC) returns to action on Saturday as it hosts 20th-ranked Randolph-Macon for a 1:00 pm contest.
