LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee Head Football Coach Frank Miriello was recently named the Virginia Division II/III/NAIA Coach of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
Miriello received the honor after leading the Generals to their best season in 39 years during the 2010 campaign. W&L finished the season with an 8-3 overall record and completed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference slate with a perfect 6-0 record for the first time in program history en route to claiming the conference title. The Generals advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the last five seasons before falling to Thomas More in the first round.
Along the way, Miriello became the program’s all-time wins leader and his career record now stands at 82-77-1 over 16 seasons. The five-time ODAC Coach of the Year honoree (including 2010) has led W&L to a .500 or better record in 11 of his 16 years. He is the first coach from W&L to ever receive the Touchdown Club’s Coach of the Year Award.
