GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Washington and Lee baseball team scored 18 runs in a doubleheader at Guilford on Saturday, but only earned a split in the two contests.
The Generals (21-9, 12-2 ODAC) committed two errors in game one, which led to five unearned runs, as the Quakers (18-16, 6-10 ODAC) won the opener, 11-5. The W&L offense erupted for 13 runs in game two to claim the second, 13-4.
The second game of the doubleheader was tied, 2-2, after three innings, but in the fourth, the Blue and White scored two runs (4-2) on back-to-back RBI groundouts by senior designated hitter Anderson Baldy (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep) and senior first baseman Jonny Swenson (Newnan, Ga./Newnan).
