W&L Baseball Splits Doubleheader Against No. 12 Shenandoah

LEXINGTON, Va. — Recording his third win of the year, first-year pitcher Tom Concklin (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) helped lead the Washington and Lee baseball team to a split against 12th-ranked Shenandoah at Cap'n Dick Smith Field on Wednesday.

W&L stretched the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the second on a RBI single by senior center fielder Keegan Dolan (Bethesda, Md./Landon), and then pushed the advantage to 4-1 on a one run single to right by senior designated hitter Kyle Witty (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) in the third.

Shenandoah cut the deficit to 4-2 in the top of the fourth on a RBI groundout by sophomore shortstop Billy Arens (Purcellville, Va./Homeschool), but the Generals scored a run in the fifth on a single to left by first-year third baseman Ryan Weston (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) to take a 5-2 advantage.
