W&L Claims the 2014 ODAC Overall Sports Champion Cup
For the 12th-consecutive year, Washington and Lee University has claimed the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup, as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Tuesday. The Generals claimed both the Women’s Commissioner’s Cup and the Men’s Commissioner’s Cup on their way to the overall title.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its 2013-14 Capital One Division III Academic All-District Baseball squad on Thursday, and Washington and Lee senior center fielder Keegan Dolan (Bethesda, Md./Landon) was selected to the 10-member District 5 team as one of the three outfielders chosen.

W&L Baseball Game Against Shenandoah Delayed
The 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball tournament has been delayed due to weather. The scheduled 2:30pm start at Lynchburg City Stadium between fourth-seeded Washington and Lee and top-seeded Shenandoah will now be pushed back until further notice.

The Washington and Lee baseball team scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning, but Shenandoah held on for a 6-3 victory to eliminate the Generals (18-13) from the ODAC Tournament on Friday at City Stadium.

Despite a game-tying three-run home run by first-year third baseman Ryan Weston (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) in the top of the ninth inning, the fourth-seeded Washington and Lee baseball team lost to third-seeded Bridgewater, 5-4, in 10 innings on Friday at the ODAC Tournament at City Stadium.

A Record Number of W&L Students Earn Winter Scholar-Athlete Awards
Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 210 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

W&L Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Hampden-Sydney
The Washington and Lee baseball team scored 14 runs in a doubleheader split at Hampden-Sydney on Saturday. The Generals (14-9, 7-7 ODAC) took an early lead and held on for a 6-5 victory in the opener. In game two, W&L scored six combined runs in the final two innings, but the Tigers (23-12, 7-9 ODAC) stifled the late rally for a 9-8 win.

The Washington and Lee baseball team recently held its second annual breast cancer awareness game on Saturday, March 15. Following the conclusion of the event, the total amount contributed by the Generals and given to the Susan G. Koman Foundation was over $1,400.
