W&L Claims 224 ODAC Scholar-Athlete Citations

SALEM, Va. -- A total of 224 Washington and Lee student-athletes have been named to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Teams for the 2007-08 school year.

The criteria states that the honoree must be an athlete on a varsity athletic team and carry a 3.25 minimum grade-point average (GPA) for the 2007-08 school year.

W&L boasted the most honored student-athletes of any ODAC school, with Lynchburg coming in second (121) and Roanoke coming in third (112).

Among those honored for Washington and Lee included 12 athletes that were named to All-America teams during the 2007-08 season. They are senior women's tennis player Lauren Caire (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall), men's soccer player and 2008 graduate Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar), golfer and 2008 graduate Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller), field hockey player and 2008 graduate Kendall Korte (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox), women's lacrosse player and 2008 graduate Kat Michaels (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy), junior volleyball player Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep), senior women's lacrosse player Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown), senior cross country and track & field athlete Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park), senior men's lacrosse player Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex), senior women's tennis player Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina), women's lacrosse player and 2008 graduate Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury), and senior women's soccer player Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall).

Washington and Lee won eight conference championships during the 2007-08 season and claimed the ODAC Dan Wooldridge Champion Cup for the top overall athletic program in the conference for the 12th time in the 14 years that it has been awarded.
