W&L Women's Lax Honored By the NCAA for Top Defense

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently honored the Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team in recognition of the national statistical title the team won for scoring defense during the 2007 season.

The Generals registered a goals-against-average of 4.86 during the 2007 campaign to lead all Division III teams. The Blue and White held teams to four of less goals in 10 contests, including one shutout.

W&L concluded the season with a 15-4 overall record (8-0 ODAC) as it won its fifth-straight ODAC Championship. The Generals also made their fifth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and defeated Wooster, 14-4, before falling to eventual national runner-up Salisbury, 10-7, in the second round.
