BALTIMORE, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior goalkeeper Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and senior defender Kat Michaels (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) were both named Division III First Team All-America by insidelacrosse.com. Additionally, Tilbor earned the Goalkeeper of the Year award, while Michaels garnered the Defender of the Year award.
A two-time First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) recipient, four-year member of the ODAC All-Tournament team and first-team all-region honoree, Tilbor started every game this season. She led the country with a save percentage of .563 and also had a goals-against average of 6.54, which ranked second in Division III. Tilbor concludes her career ranked third all-time at W&L in career saves (513) and fifth all-time in career save percentage (.564).
The 2008 ODAC Player of the Year, Michaels was a three-time First Team All-ODAC honoree and a two-time first team all-region pick. She started all 20 games this season and spearheaded a W&L defense that ranked third in the country with a 6.15 goals-against average. She also led the team with 29 caused turnovers, scooped up a second-best 43 ground balls and tallied one goal and five assists. For her career, Michaels caused 103 turnovers and collected 120 ground balls.
The Generals ended the 2008 campaign with a 17-3 overall record and an unblemished 9-0 ODAC mark as they claimed their sixth-straight conference championship. W&L also made its sixth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Generals received a first-round bye and fell to Amherst, 10-8, in the second round.
