SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and the USA South Athletic Conference recently announced the rosters for their Senior Basketball Challenge and the Washington and Lee men's and women's basketball programs each had two players placed on the rosters.
Senior forwards Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) and Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) will represent W&L in the women's game, while senior forwards Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and Femi Kusimo (Cross Lanes, Va./Charleston Catholic) were chosen on the men's side.
Additionally, W&L head men's basketball coach Adam Hutchinson will coach the ODAC men's squad after earning ODAC Coach of the Year honors as he led the Generals to their first winning season (15-11) since 1989-90.
Bienemann earns a spot on the men's roster after garnering First Team All-ODAC honors for the second-straight season. He led the Generals in scoring (21.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.3) for the fourth-straight season. Kusimo averaged 10.4 points per game and a career-best 6.6 rebounds per contest this season. He also shot a team-best 60.1 percent from the floor.
Krouchick will participate in the contest after earning Honorable Mention All-ODAC honors this past season. She paced W&L in scoring (11.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg) in 2007-08. Kane was second on the squad in scoring and rebounding, totaling 10.4 points and 5.6 boards per outing.
Inaugurated in 2006, the ODAC/USA South Senior Basketball Challenge provides graduating seniors from each of the conferences’ schools an opportunity in the collegiate forum one final time.
Both games will be held on Sun., Mar. 16 at North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, N.C. The women’s contest is slated for 1:00 p.m., with the men’s match-up following at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $3 and can be purchased at the game.
