W&L Baseball Picked Sixth in ODAC Coaches Preseason Poll
SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its 2008 Preseason Coaches Poll for baseball and Washington and Lee was picked sixth out of the league's 10 teams.
Virginia Wesleyan sits atop the poll with 90 total points and four first-place nods, while Bridgewater received 79 points (two first-place votes) and Hampden-Sydney was a close third with 77 points (three first-place votes). Lynchburg (75), Randolph-Macon (69), W&L (55), Guilford (33), Roanoke (31), Eastern Mennonite (21) and Emory & Henry (20) rounded out the poll.
Senior left fielder Tim Livingston (Los Angeles, Calif./Santa Monica), senior right fielder James Madden (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) and junior center fielder Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./Islip) highlight the Generals' returners in 2008.
Livingston led the team with a .397 batting percentage and totaled a second-best 24 RBI and was a second-team all-conference selection last year. Madden, a 2006 First Team All-ODAC pick, registered 16 RBI, four doubles, three triples and two homeruns, while McKelvey hit for .353 and racked up 23 RBI, along with five doubles, two triples and one homerun.
W&L opens the 2008 campaign against Oglethorpe on February 17 at 1:00 pm in Atlanta, Ga.
