SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee University earned the ODAC Athlete of the Week award for men's and women's indoor track for the week ending December 2. Sophomore Billy Billington (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) and freshman Summer Lollie (Mesquite City, Texas/Dr. John D Horn) garnered the honor after competing in the Liberty Kick Off Tournament over the weekend.
Billington had a stellar finish in both the shot put and the 35-pound weight throw. Billington finished first among Division III competitors with a lifetime-best of 46’10.75” in the shot put and he placed second with a toss of 49’5.75” in the 35-pound weight throw.
Lollie set a school record when she finished first among Division III athletes in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.29 seconds. Additionally, she placed fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.99 and then leaped 9.54 meters for a fourth-place finish in the triple jump.
The W&L men's and women's indoor track team will now break for the holidays. The Generals return to action on Jan.19 at the Marietta Invitational.
