SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2007 all-conference volleyball team on Monday and the Generals had four players honored.
Junior right side Laura Maurer (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII), sophomore outside hitter Rachael Phillips (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Prep), and junior right side Jessica Ulrich (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) were all named to the first team, while senior right side Jess Hudock (Tampa, Fla./Holy Names) was tabbed to the second team.
Maurer received first team accolades for the second-straight season after setting a new school record for digs in a match (40) and being only the seventh player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills. On the season, Maurer has played in 105 games and leads the team with 412 digs and is second on the team with 362 kills.
Phillips earned her first All-ODAC award after a steller second season. She leads the team with 382 kills and is second with a .318 hitting percentage. Phillips was also named ODAC Tournament MVP over the weekend.
Ulrich posted her first all-conference first team award after nabbing second-team honors last season. To date, Ulrich has racked up 291 kills, 78 assists, 52 service aces, and 315 digs.
Hudock tabbed her first ever All-ODAC selection after playing in a team-best 110 games this fall. She leads the team with 78 service aces and also has 310 digs and 298 kills.
Washington and Lee was awarded the ODAC's automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Tournament and will play Southwestern (29-11) in the opening round on Thursday at 3:30 pm CST. The Generals will play in the South Regional hosted by Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
