University has appointed only six athletic directors. The
seventh, announced April 24, will be the first woman to hold the
position. Janine Hathorn, who has been assistant director of
athletics at W&L since 2002 and women’s lacrosse coach
since 1987, will start her new position July 1, 2007.

Wilkiemeyer '93 and Josephine Schaeffer Covington '96. All eight

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior wide receiver Jack
Martin (Princeton, N.J./ Hun School) and sophomore running back
Stuart Sitterson (Atlanta, Ga./ Westminster) have both been
selected First Team Preseason All-America by Don Hansen's
Football Gazette. Senior wide receiver Colton Ward (Charlotte
N.C./Charlotte Country Day) earned Third Team honors.
W&L NAMES GENE McCABE HEAD MEN'S LACROSSE

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh
has announced the appointment of Gene McCabe as head men's lacrosse
coach. McCabe comes to W&L after serving as the head coach at
Hamilton College for five seasons. He will begin his duties on
August 1, 2006.

has announced that Head Women's Swimming Coach and Aquatics
Director Kiki Jacobs has resigned her position effective July 28 to
accept the Associate Athletic Director position at Oberlin

has announced that Heather Grant, the University's Head Athletic

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Curt Speerschneider, assistant women's tennis
coach and assistant director of the Duchossois Center at W&L,
has resigned to accept the position of head women's tennis coach at
Skidmore College.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Amy Reistrup, Washington and Lee riding coach,
passed away on Friday, July 7, following a brief battle with
