SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has announced that Washington and Lee University has claimed the 2006-07 Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup which recognizes the top overall athletic program in the conference.

W&L garnered the cup for the fourth consecutive year and the 11th time in the award's 13-year history. Additionally, the Generals also claimed the men's sports cup and the women's sports cup for the third-straight season and the sixth time overall, a feat that has never been accomplished by another ODAC school.

W&L, which won seven ODAC championships during the 2006-07 season, posted 144 total points to outdistance Roanoke (117.0), Bridgewater (112.0), Virginia Wesleyan (104.0), Lynchburg (103.5), Randolph-Macon (76.5), Guilford (69.0), Eastern Mennonite (64.0), Emory & Henry (48.5), Hampden-Sydney (48.5), Sweet Briar (21.0), Randolph-Macon Woman's (20.0) and Hollins (20.0).

The Generals tallied 62.0 points in men's sports and 82.0 points in women's sports. Bridgewater (50.5) finished second for the men's cup, while Roanoke (67.5) was the runner-up for the women's cup.

Washington and Lee's 23 varsity sports combined to post a 220-89-5 (.709) overall record and won a total of eight conference championships during the 2006-07 season.
