W&L's DOORNBOS NAMED ODAC INDOOR TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee freshman Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4.
Doornbos won three events and set three school records at the season-opening VMI Invitational on Sat., Dec. 3.
Doornbos won the long jump in a school-record leap of 17 feet, 4 1⁄2 inches, which broke the old school-record by exactly one foot. She also won the 200-meter dash (27.52) and placed third in the 55-meter dash in a school-record time of 7.61.
Doornbos then teamed up with freshmen Caroline Davis (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield), Stephanie Stelter (Magnolia, Texas/Concordia Lutheran) and Tara Hildenbrand (Castroville, Texas/Medina Valley) to win the 4x400 meter relay in a school-record time of 4:19.64.
Washington and Lee will be back in action on Sat., Jan. 21 at the Marietta Open beginning at 10:00 am.
