RICHMOND, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior defensive lineman Liam Murray (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) has been named the Virginia Division II-III Defensive Lineman of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
Murray will be presented the award at the 2005 Dudley Award Dinner held on Thu., Dec. 8 at the Sheraton Richmond West Hotel at 7:30 pm. Murray will be joined at the event by sophomore wide receiver Jack Martin (Princeton, N.J./Hun School) who is a finalist for the Dudley Award which is presented to the Virginia Player of the Year.
A team captain, Murray helped the Generals to a 7-3 season in 2005, the program's best record since the 1985 campaign. Despite missing the final two games of the season with a knee injury, Murray tied for second on the team with 55 tackles. He was also second on the team with 7.5 tackles for a loss and tied for second with 3.0 sacks.
Murray finished his career with 147 tackles and 7.0 sacks. He is a three-time First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District III selection and was named First Team All-ODAC following his junior and senior seasons.
