LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior midfielder Kate Lester (Wilmington, Del./Friends) and senior middle blocker Susan Gaillard (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) have been named the ODAC Player of the Week for the respective sports.
Lester was named the field hockey player of the week after helping lead the Generals to a 3-0 week. She tallied three goals and one assist for the week, including one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win over Rhodes College. She also scored one goal in a 2-1 win over Eastern Mennonite and one goal in a 2-1 win over Juniata.
Lester's performance has helped W&L (12-5, 7-1) to the driver's seat for the top seed in the ODAC field hockey tournament and the Generals are currently on a school-record eight-game winning streak. For the season, she has totaled 11 points on four goals and three assists.
Gaillard was named the volleyball player of the week after leading the Generals to a 5-0 week and a tournament title in the Generals Classic held at W&L over the weekend. She was named to the all-tournament team and averaged 4.20 kills, 1.80 blocks and 1.60 digs per game while hitting .500 for the week. The Generals (25-3, 9-0) are currently on an 18-match winning streak and will be top seed in the upcoming ODAC tournament.
For the season, Gaillard has posted 226 kills, 78 blocks, 65 digs and 24 service aces, while hitting .392. She ranks second all-time at W&L with 377 career blocks and is third all-time with 1,416 career kills.
