W&L PROMOTES HEATHER GRANT TO HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINER
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh has announced that Associate Athletic Trainer Heather Grant has been promoted to Head Athletic Trainer. Grant replaces Holly Snyder, who resigned to pursue a career in elementary education.
"We are pleased to promote Heather Grant to the position of head athletic trainer," said Walsh. "Heather has done exceptional work for us, both in her team assignments and in working with our student athlete mentors in their role as peer counselors to our athletic teams. We are fortunate to have someone of Heather's ability to take over the position vacated by Holly."
"For the past three years it has been a privilege to work with the student-athletes and coaches at Washington and Lee," said Grant. "I am excited and honored to be able to continue serving the University and the Athletic Department as the Head Athletic Trainer."
Grant arrived at W&L in August of 2002 from the University of Richmond where she had served as assistant athletic trainer for two years. A 1999 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor of science in health sciences, Grant served as a student assistant trainer at JMU for three years before obtaining a master’s degree in athletic training from the University of Virginia in 2000. While completing the master’s program, she served as a graduate assistant trainer at Virginia Military Institute during the 1999-2000 school year.
Grant, wife of VMI Associate Lacrosse Coach Mic Grant, is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association. She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
