W&L FIELD HOCKEY EARNS ACADEMIC HONORS FROM NFHCA
GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- The Washington and Lee field hockey team has been cited by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for its team grade-point average (GPA), the association announced on Wednesday.
W&L received the NFHCA's Division III National Academic Team Award for achieving a team GPA in excess of 3.0. The Generals were one of 86 Division III squads to post a 3.0 GPA or better, and one of five ODAC teams to have received the award.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was the team leader, posting a 3.53 team grade-point average. W&L notched a 3.318 GPA during the fall term.
Washington and Lee completed the 2004 season with a 9-9 overall record, 6-3 in the ODAC.
