NORMAN, Okla. -- The Washington and Lee golf team is ranked 20th in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA)/Bridgestone Division III Coaches Poll which was released recently.
W&L received 69 points and is joined in the poll by follow ODAC members Guilford (340 pts.) and Randolph-Macon (62 pts.), who are ranked second and 25th, respectively. Methodist College garnered the top spot with 366 points and nine first-place votes.
The Generals are coming off a fifth place tie out of 24 teams at the Golden Isle Invitational (302-294-303--899) on March 18-20 and are averaging 306.0 strokes per round on the season.
W&L claimed the Virginia Division III Championship and the McDaniel Ocean City Classic during the fall season and is led by freshman Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller), who is averaging 74.7 strokes per round.
The Generals return to action on April 11-12 when they compete in the Emory University Invitational.
