W&L CROSS COUNTRY SQUADS TABBED FOR SECOND IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason cross country poll was released Friday morning, with Washington and Lee ranked second in both men's and women's competition.

The W&L men's team was narrowly edged in the standings by four-time defending champion Lynchburg. On the women's side, the Generals are tabbed for second behind defending champion Roanoke.

Both General squads finished the 2002 conference campaign in second-place. The W&L women last earned the title in 2000, while the men haven't worn the conference crown since 1997.

Washington and Lee begins cross country competition on Saturday, September 13 when the Generals host the W&L Invitational. Running begins at 10:30 a.m.
