W&L FIELD HOCKEY FOURTH IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
preseason field hockey coaches' poll was released Thursday morning,
with Washington and Lee ranked fourth.
The Generals received 32 total points for the fourth-place
prediction. Lynchburg, which finished the 2002 season second in the
ODAC, emerged with the top-position. Eastern Mennonite took the
second-place nod while defending ODAC champion, Roanoke, ranked
third.
Although 2002 was only the second season of ODAC play for W&L
, the Generals finished among the top-four ODAC teams with a trip
to the conference semifinals. Head Coach Wendy Orrison's squad
posted a 10-9 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play.
Washington and Lee begins the 2003 season on Saturday, September
13 when the Generals travel to Johns Hopkins. Match time is slated
for 4:30 p.m.
