W&L WOMEN'S SOCCER ODAC PRESEASON FAVORITE
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
preseason women's soccer coaches' poll was released Wednesday
morning, with Washington and Lee atop the standings.
The Generals received eight first-place votes to take the top
position with 23 total points. Roanoke took the second-position
with 24 points and three votes for first place. Lynchburg was
ranked third with 35 points and one first-place vote.
Washington and Lee returns 12 players, including seven
all-conference selections, who propelled the program to its first
ODAC title, first NCAA tournament appearence and first national
ranking. In addition, the Generals set a program record with 17
wins and a 20-game unbeaten streak.
Washington and Lee begins the 2003 season on Saturday, September
13 when the Generals host ODAC foe Bridgewater. Match time is
slated for 1:00 pm.
